Statutory interest is interest that can be claimed on an unpaid debt or court judgment by virtue of a statute, without the claimant having to show they suffered a specific financial loss. On commercial debts it runs at 8% above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act. On county court judgments it runs at 8% per year fixed.
